At the turn of the century, Marvel decided to revamp their classic characters in a futuristic, dystopian landscape under the blanket name of MARVEL 2099. They made a few iterations but Spiderman 2099 is the only one to really survive past the 90s.

Miguel O'hara is a late 20s to early 30s aged man of Irish-Mexican descent, born in Nueva York many years after the "Heroic Age". As a child he displayed prodigy-like genius and was admitted to the Alchemax School For Gifted Youngsters, and as an adult he becomes the head of the Alchemax genetics program, a program intended to create super soldiers called "Corporate Raiders".

The series of events that would trigger Miguel's ascent into Spiderman started with the failure to re-engineer the original Spiderman. Following the test subject's death he attempts to resign from his job, but rather than let him leave Tyler Stone (head of Alchemax) tricks Miguel into taking Rapture, An addictive drug that genetically bonds to the user.

Under Stone's threat of blackmail to the Public Eye, Miguel decides that he will no longer be subjugated to the will of Alchemax and decides to rewrite his own genetic code to remove the drug, but is sabotaged by his jealous coworker Aaron Delgado who causes his DNA to be spliced with 50% Spider genes.

Bada-bing, bada-boom! Bro becomes Spiderman of 2099 AD !!

ON ATSV MIGUEL

To be entirely honest here, there are only a few things I really like about ATSV's iterations of Miguel.

I actually love his and LYLA's character design! They're definitely a universe away from the original designs but i like them a lot. I've seen some OG fans of his say they hate how bulky they made him but i think its a nice change from the usual lithe, gymnast body type they usually have.

The other thing i like is the dynamic between Miguel and Gabriella. I just think it adds a little something something to his character depth.

Other than that, the way they had Miguel acting very much sucked.

FANGS: A MIGUEL O'HARA ZINE

FANGS is an upcoming for-profit zine centered around Across the Spiververse’s iteration of everyone’s favorite Spider Society leader, Miguel O’Hara! This zine will feature contributors’ interpretations and portrayals of Miguel O’Hara in any and all aspects, featuring him in art, writing, and even merch.

The zine will be ship-free in its entirety and may also feature ATSV canon characters, so long as Miguel O’Hara is the main focus of the piece

The main zine is SFW, and we will be creating an NSFW side zine. Only 18+ individuals may purchase this zine.

DID YOU KNOW??

In 1999, Fox Studios had plans to develop a Spider-Man 2099 cartoon but shelved that idea in favor of "Spider-Man Unlimited." The reasoning being that Spider-Man 2099 simply did not have enough connection to the main supporting characters of the original "Spider-Man" animated series.
